Happy Holidays from IKO Community Management! Season’s Greetings, and Merry Christmas! These are just a few of the many phrases used to greet each other during the Holiday Season which is celebrated in many different ways around the world. Christmas is a widely celebrated festive holiday in the United States, however, there are many other celebrations as well. Hanukkah and Kwanzaa are two other favorites to name a few. Traditions are passed on from generation to generation during the holidays and new traditions may be formed. We are a nation of traditions blended together, “the melting pot,” as history books refer to the US. If you take a closer look at the celebration you will see we have carols from England and Australia, trees from Germany, and of course, St. Nick, or Santa Clause in a red suit from Scandinavia. The traditional arrival through the chimney to fill stockings is reminiscent of the Netherlands. And his sleigh drawn by the reindeer? Switzerland takes credit for this beginning. Our parades of celebration carry over from our Latin friends and the processions of their culture. The feast we enjoy is traditional in all nations even though the menu may differ. Religious and non-religious activities are celebrated from Thanksgiving to New Years. The holiday season is of joy and peace! If you will be traveling to see family and friends or just staying home to enjoy the holiday, IKO Community Management would like to wish you and yours a very safe and happy holiday. Enjoy your holiday traditions however they may have originated! Happy Holidays from IKO Community Management!
